Sexual well-being is a state of enjoying sex positively. A sexual problem, on the other hand, is a condition which does not let one enjoy the sexual experience. This problem can be caused due to many factors acting in culmination or due to a singular condition affecting the sex drive in a person. Also, factors like bad relationship or depression may cause sexual problems in women.

There is no standard measure which scales the sexual well-being in a person. Sexual wellbeing can be called as a state when a woman does not experience any sexual problems. Emotional issues in the relationship, anxiety, trauma like rape or accident, dissatisfied with self, low self-esteem, etc., are few causes which may disturb the sexual wellbeing in a woman.

Physical issues like vaginal dryness, side effects to medication, diabetes, etc., are known to disturb the state of sexual wellbeing.

Symptoms of disrupted sexual wellbeing:

  • No desire for sex or arousal.

  • Absent orgasms.

  • Painful intercourse.

What to do to regain the sexual wellbeing?
  • Probe if a medicine is causing this lowered sex-drive. Sometimes anti-depressant medications may take a toll on the sexual well-being in a person. Check with your health practitioner for alternate medicines.

  • Focus your efforts on building a bond with your partner. Base this relationship on trust, love and care, sex will automatically find its place.

  • To ensure this, plan private time with your partner. Relax and unwind together for greater bonding.

  • You can chart your periods of unwellness or uneasiness for sex and study the pattern. It will help find the cause of this behaviour.

  • If you are going through painful experience during sex, seek professional help immediately. This may put off sexual desire which in turn affects the sexual wellbeing.
