What is Varicocele

Varicocele is a condition wherein the veins in the scrotum become enlarged and interfere with, sperm motility and sometimes with sperm count. It is also unknown whether a surgery to correct the enlarged veins may cause an improvement in terms of sperm motility, and count. The connection of enlarged scrotum veins with male infertility is also vague and is open to debate.

Varicocele Treatments

It is also suspected that a surgery to the scrotum veins may increase the risk of post-surgery infections. In general, varicocele condition observed in smaller degrees do not necessitate any treatment measures. If the enlargement in veins is pronounced and shows worsened symptoms, there is a necessity for treatment. Listed below are most common symptoms which indicate that the varicocele has become a serious condition requiring a treatment regime.

  • A light but persistent pain in the veins in the scrotum.
  • A sharp pain in the affected part.
