In many cases of STDs, both the partners are ignorant of infection and pass it on to the other. Many STD cases do not show symptoms until it has progressed a good deal. It is important to stay safe from STDs, especially for women because complications caused due to STDs in women are serious. So how do you stay safe from STDs?

Getting screened for STDs is a good start

There are many STD test kits available in the market. Use them to test regularly even if you do not find any symptoms. On the other hand, if you observe burning while urination, test kits which test for Syphilis and Gonorrhoea are recommended. If you often have unprotected sex with multiple partners it is good to get yourself tested for HIV. If you are in a relationship with a single faithful partner, getting screened for STDs once a year is sufficient. But, at any juncture, if you are suffering from STD symptoms, get a screening test done to rule out the Possibility.

Abstain from Sex with multiple partners

Sex with multiple partners increases the risk of STDs in men and women. If you are a kind of person who gets physically intimate with new friends the risk of contracting an STD is higher. Ensure that before you get physical with your partner, his/her health history is known to you. Even if it is embarrassing to probe such a thing, it will always save you the pain and suffering after you contract an STD.
