According to Ayurveda, the three doshas that regulates forces of nature are Kapha (Water & Earth), Pitta (Water & Fire) and Vata (Air & Space). It also states that and equilibrium created between them helps to improve overall well-being and promotes good health.

If disruptions take place in this equilibrium, then negative influence is noticed on health, thereby causing health conditions like infertility. Given below are few aspects as to how the doshas imbalance situation may increase infertility risks.

  • Vata Dosha: Its responsibility is to help in smooth functioning of reproductive physiology. This dosha’s vitiation might affect ovulation procedure, thus affecting fertility. Fear, anxiety, severe stress, regular fasting, trauma, strenuous exercise, poor eating habits, etc. results in Vata balance disruption.
  • Pitta Dosha vitiation affects the fallopian tube.
  • Kapha Dosha is to be in proper balance to ensure Shukra Dhatu’s healthy functioning. Its vitiation might surface because of unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle practices, cold and spicy, oily foods. Vitiation might also cause the fallopian tube to thicken or uterine fibroids.
  • Shukra Dhatu (sperm & semen) might get depleted due to increased sexual activity, resulting in Kehya or infertility.
  • Shukra Dhatu reduction could be the result of excess heat.
  • Anxiety, mental stress, unwillingness among both or any one partner might cause infertility.
  • Genetic factor also is a cause.

Ayurvedic treatment combined with pranayama, yoga, Panchakarma (detoxification therapies) and dietary modifications helps restore balance between Kapha, Pitta and Vata in the body. Its balance helps improve fertility among both genders.
