Actress Sameera Reddy, delivers a baby boy, her first, few months earlier this year. The actress is 33 years old. This news dispels the myth that women have difficulty in conceiving after 30. Sadly, many women, find it difficult to conceive even at an younger age. It is best to check, few things before seeking expert advice, in matters of progeny. Here is a checklist to refer.
Intercourse Gone Wrong.
Make sure you perform peno-vaginal intercourse, in right manner. Many a marriages, have not been consummated properly because of following reasons:
No sexual excitement.
Knowing peno-vaginal sexual intercourse details vaguely, or fearing to research more or seek expert advice.
Different sexual orientation.
Few medical conditions affecting men, such as, erectile dysfunction, tight foreskin, premature ejaculation, Peyronie’s condition.
Women, may not find it pleasurable due to, narrow introitus ( vaginal opening), pain during or after intercourse, unbroken hymen, vaginasmus, etc.
If there is no error in peno-vaginal sexual intercourse, it is best to get your man test his semen for motility and sperm count.
Using Lubricant during Sex
Many of the artificial lubricants advertised for sexual intercourse, restrict sperm movement towards ovum and reduce fertilization chances. One check on the composition of these lubricants is enough to deduce that they are spermicidal.
Not tonight Honey!
Conception is possible, when ovum is fertilized by sperm. One of the ovaries release ovum each month, this process is called ovulation. This ovum must be fertilized within 2 days of ovulation. Ovulation usually happens 14 days prior to immediate coming menstrual cycle. Hence, pregnancy is possible, only when the couple indulge in sexual intercourse for five days earlier and after, ovulation. If this sexual contact frequency is less, you may miss ovum. Although a single intercourse is enough to impregnate a woman, this should occur during or on ovulation day.
Combined Infertility
Few cases witness this condition, wherein both partners seem fertile, but are unable to conceive on union. It may require medical assistance. Genetic or immunological causes are assumed to be the reason for such condition.
Problems with Fallopian tubes
Ovum released by ovaries, travel through fallopian tubes and reach uterus. If the fallopian tubes are narrower or blocked with cysts, ovum does not reach the uterus, eliminating chances of fertilization and pregnancy. Tuberculosis and infections are prime reason for diseases to fallopian tubes.
Problems with Uterine Lining
After fertilization of ovum, this egg implants itself onto, inner lining of uterus. If the endometrium, or this inner lining is unhealthy, or damaged, implantation does not occur and hence pregnancy is not possible. Inner lining gets damaged due to sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, etc.
Incompetent Cervix
After fertilization, the egg latches itself to uterus lining and begins to grow. With gradual increase in its weight and size, uterus also expands. Meanwhile, cervix or mouth of uterus, holds this pregnancy safely until full term. When, cervix seems to be incompetent or loose, it may not be able to hold the egg. Women with this condition suffer, multiple miscarriages and require medical intervention to carry on with pregnancy.
Unexplained Infertility
It is possible that, a couple is unable to conceive, even though they do not face any of the above mentioned situations or conditions. This is called unexplained infertility and is observed in about 26% of the couples. It can be said that, current methods of, problem investigation are not efficient enough to trace the abnormalities causing infertility. It is best to go for adoption, when the best infertility specialist cannot find cause of your infertility.
